Places in Laketon
The Jolly Cook
A popular bakery in town, famous for their Level 29 fruit pies. It is run by bakers Haril, and Harrel, who are half-orc twins.
Famous Scroll
The local wizard shop. It’s run by Carrick Dulaney, who is often absentminded, and works with Bruce, the bat.
The Happy Chef
The competitor that popped up next door to the Jolly Cook. They sell Level 30 meat pies.
Books and Bruise
The bookshop in Laketon, run by Daedra Vairë, in order to get a discount on the books you have to fight (thumb wrestle) the person in the pit. Current fighters are Danel Clotz, and Chaedi.
In A Pickle- Part 1
Carrick tells the party that in order to cure their addiction he needs root of a swallow-carried coconut and mermaid hair. The party owes him 1 gem, again. They learn there is an area by Lake Mansana that’s wizard cursed, and attracts birds. Carrick will pay the group if they bring him back extra of the ingredients.
They travel close to lake Mansana to find a hedge maze, which smells of coconut. They go into the hedges, they aren’t very quiet, and they wake up a tiger, who scratches Emrys, but Zuzanna talks back to sleep. They continue only to be attacked by a group of hobgoblins and a bugbear, who leave Ataraxia badly damaged, and at one put unconscious. Chaedi isn’t very sneaky, so Ataraxia continues moving, and finds a portal in the maze. She goes through it still badly damaged, and the group follows, after much arguing. Ataraxia keeps walking, when she looks around a corner, and is shot with an arrow through the head. Her friends see this, and Chaedi steals Ataraxia’s will. Earwen and Chaedi use their skills to defeat the group of hobgoblins who killed their friend. A dwarf woman named Aura finds the party in the maze, and helps them defeat the hobgoblins. They do make it out of the maze. They collect 6lbs of coconut root, then proceed to play truth or dare in order to gain Aura’s trust. This game reveals a lot about the characters, and notes are added to the party page.
An Egg-cellent Side Quest
After the party completes the deal with Bill, Chaedi is summoned by Daedra. The rest of the group searches the place for books on various languages in an attempt to learn as many as possible. Daedra asks Chaedi to deliver a book about eggs to her new franchise, Novellas and Knuckle Sandwiches, in Manceville for 2 silver pieces. The group travels to Manceville
Manceville is shrouded in darkness, but there is nothing around to create the shadow. There are many lights in the town and a festival is going on. The group asks a townsperson where Novellas and Knuckle Sandwiches is, and he replies “Just left of the menagerie” to which Ataraxia asks is glass, and the man gets confused and walks away. There is another bookstore, Scrolls and Sandwiches.
The town is throwing a moon festival, but the moon is gone, so it’s actually for reclaiming the moon, because the sun is too much to ask. It’s gone because the town was cursed by witches.
After an interesting encounter with a townsperson where Ataraxia and Chaedi believe that due to a vitamin d deficiency the town is full of ghosts, they travel to Novellas and Knuckle Sandwiches.
The book is for the human barbarian who works at the bookstore, John Cena. Chaedi and John are buddies.
The party moves to Scrolls & Sandwiches. Ataraxia demands to go to the languages section, while Chaedi asks where the pit was, and was sorely upset by the idea that they didn’t have one. Chaedi bargains with the bookkeeper for a buy one get one if she wins in a magical duel. Chaedi creates a giant Chaedi, who breakdances, and gets 5/10 books for free. They purchase all of the books. They then realize they can’t learn languages from books, they then have to wizard battle the lady for a refund. In order to get them out of there, she spells them to learn morse code so they’ll leave them alone.
The party then travels to the festival, because they were there, and it was interesting. There were free samples from a vendor at the shop for Koolickles. They were pickles that taste like Kool-aid. Ataraxia throws the samples back at the guy, but everyone else tries them. Everybody in the group loves it, but Ataraxia senses there is bad magic. The effects cause the group to feel intense positivity, and it wears off at different speeds. Zuzanna snaps out of it to find Emrys acting similar to how she is when she is on magic mushrooms. Emrys buys ten more before Zuzanna can stop her.
The group minus Ataraxia goes to the menagerie to find all of the cages, and the animals are gone. The effects of the coolickles wear off and the group is real confused.
Someone stole all of the horses, and the woman they met in the menagerie earlier, Fae, is suspect #1. The group tracks her through a nearby set of mountains. The group meets a unicorn, who says that Fae set them free from the cages, but has placed them in the mountains on a grassy field. Fae said she set all the horses free, but did not trap them in this field, the fence was already there and she didn’t build it. The unicorn, Alfred, refuses to talk to Fae. Ataraxia threatens to murder Alfred if he doesn’t talk, so he talks. He and a Pegasus, Black Jack, lead the horses back to town.
The group travels back to laketon, and Ataraxia asks if Carrick can make a remedy, he says he need more time, but probably could. Also the koolickles were addictive, and would poison them after 3 days.
The Quest for the Bluetooth Part 3
The group looks at the rainbow room, and they sense that some of the teeth are magical, the blue one isn’t. They also know some of the teeth are good magic and bad magic, but they can’t tell which is which.
Chaedi grabs the orange tooth, and money and a gem spill out. This motivates Ataraxia, who grabs the green tooth. Ataraxia and Earwen are brain swapped. Chaedi grabs the blue tooth and nothing happens. Then Ataraxia-in-Earwen’s-Body grabs the indigo tooth, Zuzanna shouts “Indi-NO”. Ataraxia-in-Earwen’s-Body rapidly increases in size, and is turned into an owlbear. Zuzanna runs back, grabs Emrys, and is out of the room extremely quickly. Ataraxia-in-Earwen’s-Body then grabs the yellow tooth. The whole room turns into a tavern, full of alcohol and an open bar. Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body grabs the red tooth, which heats up in her hand and 3 fire elementals pop out. Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body tries to bite the elementals thinking they will taste like Spicy chicken.
Zuzanna and Emrys make a handshake out in the hall.
Earwen-in-Ataraxia’s-Body stabs the first fire elemental, Chaedi fires a magic missle and Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body attacks it with her claw. Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body bites it,kills it, and it explodes in her mouth. Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body is down to one hit point but still attacks another one with her claws. Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body is on fire and unconscious, and the fire elemental is dead. Earwen-in-Ataraxia’s-Body tries to put the fire out, but makes it worse. Emrys successfully heals Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body, who then picks up the violet tooth and becomes ancient.
The Blue tooth may have been a decoy, and the party has to find the real one.
They travel back into town, and talk to bill to finalize their deal for 125gp and a level 29 pie. They healed back up and returned to the cavern
They hear singing, and go in the room opposite to the singing. Owlbear-Ataraxia-In-Earwen’s-Body can smell gold, and Chaedi translates to the group. The group meets a small fairy dragon, Chaedi tells her that their friend touched all the teeth. The fairy dragon agreed to give the party the real blue tooth if they sang a song or gave them a shiny thing. Zuzanna creates two necklaces, and the fairy dragon gives them the tooth, which was hidden in a secret fountain room. Zuzanna touches Earwen-in-Ataraxia’s-Body with the tooth and everything goes back to normal. They then go collect the Glass Armonica, which was in a room full of glass instruments.
The Party (Overview)
Ataraxia-
The Party’s resident Rogue. She is 5’6”, 114 pounds and a tiefling. She has a sharp temper, hates children and loves reading. She is very impulsive, and is determined to worship Bill Nye the Science Guy. She is a thief, and a fan of adventure.
Lady Aureliana Bellos Debois
A noble dwarf woman from the town of Karamel. She distrusts nobles, but seems to get along well with others. She is ruthless in battle, but sweet elsewhere.
Chaedi-
The Sorcerer in the party. Chaedi is 5’7”, a half-elf librarian and very good tempered. Contrary to her temperament, Chaedi works at Books-n-Bruise, a bookstore where in order to get a book discount, one has to fight the person in the ring. Chaedi tends to ramble on when she gets nervous. She prefers her elf heritage, with her slightly pointed ears, and her brown hair is always in a ponytail.
Ëarwen-
The Bard of the group. Ëarwen is 3’0”. She is a halfling, and is mild-mannered. She has hazel eyes, brown hair that is parted into two long braids in the front of her hair. She knows how to play a number of instruments, including the Viol. She typically wears a green tunic, brown pants, and leather boots. She has a glowing crystal around her neck from a former sweetheart that changes with her mood.
Emrys-
Emrys is a Druid. She is a 5’6” Tiefling Hunter-gatherer. She has jet black skin, horns like a satyr, and silver eyes. Her hair is purple, and comes down to just above her neck. She is lean and toned with silver leaf tattoos on her arms. She wears casual clothing, a dark green v-neck shirt with a brown vest, khaki capris and brown leather boots. She has a leather satchel, and is the mediator of the group. Emrys is a tiefling because she has a substance abuse problem, and she was an elf before she ate the wrong mushrooms, and was cursed by a faerie.
Zuzanna-
Zuzanna is the Ranger. She is 5’0”, a drow folk-hero. She was left during a raid on a settlement, and was adopted by a group of Wood Elves. She has obsidian skin, stark white hair and pale lilac eyes. Zuzanna tries to be as non-threatening as possible in a long flowy white dress. Zuzanna is paranoid, and terrified of owlbears. She and Emrys are best friends, and she wants to protect her at all costs.
The Quest for the Bluetooth Part 2
Bill wasn’t telling the whole truth, and the party figures out that while he is annoyed with Zuzanna and Ataraxia, he for some reason really dislikes Earwen, even though he talks to her the most. The group plans to meet bill in a half an hour at the jolly cook.
The group learns that Bill heard about them from Carrick, and the bakers. He tells them that the book is probably about a parade. The group accepts his offer, and they go to books and bruise. They read Salute to the Darkened Festival.
The group went to Zuzanna’s mom’s house to get supplies with Bruce, who will come with them. They brought gloves and a wagon to transport the objects. They travel to the vault of Nine Winds. There was a large door with this riddle etched on top “State your oath, filled with malice” Bruce helps the party find the answer to the door which was “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” And they entered the cave.
They hear a faint giggling, straight ahead with humming. They travel into a room with a line of 7 rainbow colored incisors.
The Quest for the Bluetooth Part 1
PART 1
William the Dragonborn comes up to Earwen and needs the group to locate something for him. He needs an incisor, and a glass armonica (a legendary instrument). Zuzanna and Ataraxia continuously call William “Bill”. The two proceed to sing the Bill Nye the science guy theme song. They say that the “armonica” is a “harmonica” because letters are dropped and some people have accents. Bill is an agent for an up-and-coming musical group. There is a book with information on these objects. The group detects that he isn’t telling the whole truth.
Tumnes Trapped Part 3
The Party goes back behind the Jeweler’s and there’s an obstacle course for the fourth coin.
Ataraxia manages to complete the obstacle course with flying colors, she climbs the rock-wall, swings across the rope swing, and makes it through “The Floor Is LAVA.” She steals the bell at the end. They get the four coins, and decide to try their luck with Tumnes.
He meets them at the giant wall of thorns. He counts 1,2,3..5! He is very angry, and shouts “You will Rue the day you crossed me, RUE THIS DAY!” Spins in a circle and disappears in a green puff of smoke. The dryads take down the wall, and awkwardly walk out of town.
TL;DR- Tumnes is gone, due to Ataraxia’s agility, and Tumnes’s inability to count.
Tumnes Trapped Part-2
The party survived the five legged race, but they still needed 4 glowing tokens.
The second token they found was located behind the Jolly Cook. There was a picnic table, and a dryad popped his head out and asked the group “Do you want to play?”
“Do we have a choice?” Ataraxia snipped.
“Not really, do you want to play?” The dryad responded
“Fine.”
The dryad then whistled, and beckoned them to sit down at the table.
“All right. All you have to do is eat the food, and not puke. You get points for the food, and all you need is 25 points.”
The food was brought out, there was a meat tray, and what looked to be a blender full of a black liquid. \
“You have to either drink the Liquid, which is a lovely concoction of blended darkmantle and constrictor snake scales, or you eat this delicacy of crushed beetle, with fruit bat wings and insects on top.”
Zuzanna almost vomited at the thought of eating it, and made it very well known that she wasn’t going to do any of it.
The Party decides to try and eat the plate of food first, Emrys, Ataraxia, and Earwen try and eat it, but only Ataraxia and Earwen succeed. Emrys is hurt. Zuzanna then tries to eat the food as well, just to keep Ataraxia from looking brave. The dryads award them an arbitrary number of points, 10. But they then tell them that they cannot eat any more of the food, they have to eat another thing. They Bring out a platter full of bean casserole with alcoholic ant livers, Emrys tries to get to it, but Zuzanna says that Emrys cannot have them. Ataraxia eats it, and succeeds. The group then has exactly 24 points out of 25, but the Dryads tell them that they have to eat “The Cake”, because they don’t really make the rules, Tumnes does. Chaedi volunteers to eat the cake, Takes a massive Bite, and keeps it down. The Dryads were shocked, “Nobody has ever eaten that cake. But you win!” Chaedi then sprouts a monstrous amount of hair, which Zuzanna then braids.
The group then goes behind the General Store to find another set of dryads.
“We know the deal, what are we doing?” Ataraxia was snippy.
The group then plays hot potato with the dryads, one of which who was cheating, and win. They receive their Third Token.
TL;DR- The Party ate gross food, Chaedi was cursed,again. They played Hot Potato, and now they have 3/5 tokens.
Tumnes Trapped- Part 1
The party returns to the town of Laketon. While the group was gone, an attack happened in the Jolly cook, and two people were murdered after attempting to murder another group of adventurers. One of the people in that group claimed to be the sheriff of Cairnwood. A new restaurant showed up in town, The Happy Chef, which sold level 30 meat pies. Someone, Uani, stole Earwen’s job at Books and Brews. Ataraxia stole a roll from the jolly cook, which made Zuzanna angry.
They then visit the wizard, Carrick’s shop. Bruce was actually the familiar of Carrick,and helped him with his scatterbrain. The party also learns that the Bruce is on a diet, and hates it. Carrick gives them a couple of gems and some potions in exchange for his bat. The party walks outside to discover a wall of thorns has appeared around the town.
Tumnes yells “I want my pies and I want them now!” It was not the two Thursdays from their agreement. The dryads teamed up with Tumnes. The party goes inside the Jolly Cook to see if they can get the pies. Harrel and Harell are not persuaded. They tell the party about the last time Tumnes was in town, they were forced to play leapfrog with spiky helmets on. The group realizes the reason the dryads are on Tumnes’s side is because they burned the shrubs in the pear grove. The Bakers say they don’t have fruit, so the party goes to Zuzanna’s mom’s house and gets some. In order to speed up the baking time, the party also has to pay Carrick to make a quick-bake spell.
By the blacksmith’s shop the party spies a hooded figure drop a package. Ataraxia goes to investigate, figures out it is some sort of blackmail, and doesn’t want to mess with it. She leaves the package, and tells the group that it wasn’t anything important.
The group gives the baker a quick-bake spell and they make one two-foot long pie. The groupo tries to convince Tumnes it is two pies baked together. Tumnes doesn’t want to accept the pie because he knows it’s only one pie after Zuzanna spilled the beans. Tumnes agrees to accept the pie if the group can collect 5 tokens.
The first glowing token behind Carrick’s shop. It turned out to be a five-legged race. They had to get from one side to the other, and the grass was spiky enough that it would hurt you if you fell. Chaedi was safe because she had her crocs on. The dryads whip Chaedi and Ataraxia and things move in different directions. The Dryads agreed to make things easier if Emrys tells her why she looks like Ataraxia. Emrys tells them she got a bad magic mirror. The party bribes the dryads with a meat pie if they let them go. The dryads agree, and stop the shifting ground and cover the hole in the ground Emrys becomes bros with the dryads, and they were relieved to find out that she wasn’t the girl who ate a fairy’s mushrooms, because they couldn’t be friends with her. The group finishes the puzzle, and they return with the pies.
TL;DR- Tumnes is back with a Vengeance. The party found the bats owner, and then Tumnes showed up. They survived a five-legged race on razor grass, due to Emrys being a Huge Bro.
